Character education is an important thing to be taught at school. Teachers are not required to teach student only, but they also have to educate the student's characters. Teachers are sometime not respected by the students. This is very common and this is the job of the teacher to form their best characters.. It is believed that many teachers may find some of their students acting such a disrespect, humiliate teachers, and many other violence.
Students come from many family backgrounds. What the teachers got to do is to understand the family background and understand the student's condition. Forming the student's character like educate them life value, politeness, respect is sometime difficult, thus parents should also take these parts for teaching them for sure. Here is one case experienced by the writer who is also the teacher in a famous private school school in Yogyakarta which the students in this school are coming from the middle to top level of economic. I am a teacher in a private school in Yogyakarta which this school is a famous private school in Yogyakarta. I was once surprised at the first day of my work teaching in this school since the students here are just so "special". The students are from middle to top level of economic where is no wonder students here are always attending school by cars, Lots of cars parked in the school park every morning and every school end time. No wonder they are mostly are just middle top family for sure.
I find so many differences on student's characters in private school when I compare the student's characters from public school. I just want to say the facts about it in my own case. After I observe on some students' characters and student's deeds here, students in private school are mostly have no respect to the teachers the reasons behind this is that most of them think that the teachers are paid fully by them since in my place where I work is a private school. So, it is different from the public school where the teachers are civil servant paid fully paid by the government and the students in public school is only about for paying little.
Once upon a time, there are some talks in teachers office where teachers found the student who treat the teacher with overly disrespect. The gist of the student's statement is that "teachers are paid by us then they should follow what student's wants". By then, what do you think? is it such a character failure? Or I believe that there will be such a wrong mindset in this student's head. The main important thing that I can learn from here is that this student is overly spoiled by the parents where the parents never give the student understanding when the parents giving anything to the students including these simple questions "Where money come from? what should I do to get money from my own hard work? what should I do to achieve good money and good life?. Students never know these yet anyway.
Being teachers should be really patient and understanding the students' characters. Students in my case are naturally smart and so lucky but what we need to do is to shape their attitude better, and better. Hii anyway for those who read fully my article.
